The following are guidelines for the period after a landslide:
• Stay away from the landslide area. Other landslides may follow the first one.
• Look for injured or trapped people near the landslide, without entering the area directly. Indicate the location of these people to the rescue squad.
• Beware of associated dangers, such as damaged water, gas, electricity and sewage pipelines, as well as roads and railways.
• Reforest the damaged terrain as soon as possible, since erosion caused by the land loss can lead to flash floods and other landslides in the immediate future.
• Seek counseling from an expert to assess the risk of landslides or designing corrective techniques to reduce them.
