Candles can constitute a fire risk. Consequently, we must never let them burn without supervision. For safety reasons, battery flashlights could prove to be a better solution. That being said, candles can be a cheap source of light and they are often easy to find. If you decide to use candles, make sure to take necessary precautions to avoid fires. Keep the candles lit in solid containers placed on plain surfaces. If it’s possible, place a glass shade over the candle. Also, since candles fall over easily, keep them out of reach of children and pets, and keep them far from any flammable material. Finally, extinguish the candles before leaving the room or going to bed.
